I recently attended an exhibition called Fashioning Art from PaperFashioning Art from Paper by the Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave – it was a fabulous exhibit that perfectly showcased the power of detail. When I first started out in business, I learned the adage “the devil is in the details”. For both product design and entrepreneurship alike, it’s all about the details. There is no getting around it and there are no shortcuts. Details are important for many reasons. They are the foundation of your brand, of your business, of your product, of your service, and basically, of your life.
By paying attention to the details we show that we care and that we want the product to last and bring happiness to the user. Alas, sometimes things can, and do go wrong. But the key is to make it better next time – paying extra special attention to the details. Diligence always pays and the extra time spent to make things just right, can make all the difference. Having an understanding of the details that matter most, whether it be in the activity of running a business or designing hardware for stylish bags, helps to sharpen focus. It is truly all in the details.
